Central City. The Gem of the Midwest. A beautiful city that bordered the Missouri River across from Keystone City. Thanks to an incredible economic boom, Central City had become a hub for architecture, arts, business and industry.
This made it a perfect place for teaching someone how to act like a normal Earthling.
Dressed in a white dress shirt, a black tie, and a blue suit, Clark Kent smiled he watched busy shoppers walk up and down the strip, moving from shop to shop. He turned to focus his attention on the petite blonde walking besides him. After a busy day at the Planet, Clark had decided to pay Kara a visit at the West household. So he flew from Metropolis to Central City, making sure no one noticed him land in the development, and invited his cousin to come to spend some quality time with him. This was one of the rare opportunities Clark had to spend time with his Kryptonian cousin, so he had decided to take her out to the Center to experience what normal Earth teenagers liked to do: shopping.
"How are you doing so far?" Clark asked, smiling at Kara. He was curious as to how she was holding up at the West household. He silently hoped that Wally was taking care of her.

let's kick it up, show them all the things that we can do
The West household was beginning to feel a bit cramped, though that may have been due to a speedster and a kryptonian living under one room. How Wally's parents were managing to feed them both and not be completely broke was beyond most, but even if Kara ate like a starving hyena, she had been welcomed into the household. The blonde had trouble articulating this gratefulness, though she would often show it by helping around the house, like doing the dishes, helping with laundry, cooking, that sort of thing. It never took her very long as well, slowly getting a hang of her super speed (well, for the most part, she still occasionally ran into things or would accidentally break dishes). Of course, the place was starting to look like it was held together with putty.
Her super strength would definitely take some time getting used to, and in the meantime the houses poor walls would just have to suffer. At least she had managed to keep most accidents confined to her room at this point, which looked like it should have "under construction" tape surrounding it at all times. The scorch marks on the ceiling where the most noticeable thing, to be honest, having had a few nasty nightmares as of late that made her wake up in a cold sweat, and on one occasion she woke up screaming. Kara felt terrible when she realized she had woken Mrs. West, who immediately went in to check on her.
Honestly, the blonde had not expected her cousin to offer to take her out, but after some gentle prodding from Mary she agreed. It wasn't that she didn't like Clark, quite the contrary, but she still remembered holding him in her arms when he was just a baby, and now? Well, now he was an adult, older than her, with his own life and family and job. The fact he often tried to act like a father figure also bothered her to some extent, finding the whole situation very strange. Still, she supposed it would be good to spend some time with him, after all he was her only living family member...aside from Conner, anyway.
It wasn't hard to pick out something to wear, just a pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt, nothing fancy or over-the-top, her shoes scuffing the ground slightly as she walked with Clark in mostly silence. She was also sporting a pair of glasses, causing her to constantly dip her head low so she could peek out the tops of them. It was easier for her to see that way. Her ears perked at Clark's question, glancing at him and smiling slightly, offering a small shrug.
"I'm good, they're all really nice," she mused, leaving out the part where Wally and herself tended to fight like cats and dogs over food. It wasn't her fault he was the worst sharer she had ever met in her entire life. "Mary really seems to like me. She's been helping me learn to read and write in English," there was a slight hum in her voice as she talked about Mrs. West, being piping up again, "err, what about you? Everything going okay at the...uh...Daily Planet, right?" Okay, so maybe things were a little awkward.

I LIKE THE SUSHI 'cause it's never touched a frying pan ❚ WORDS --- ❚ TAGS Supes & Supette❚ NOTES Maybe he was missing something about the whole teenager experience. It was a social norm to hang out at the mall on the weekends with your friends and talk about the latest gossip that was circulating its way through the high school. So, why was this whole thing a bit of a let down? "Maybe I need more friends." he thought aloud glancing towards the vacant spot next to him as he walked. For the record, yes Wally West does have friends that are actually normal and don't shoot lasers from their eyes or projectiles at people. There was the one girl Linda who was in his literature class and then there was Hartley, though that kid seemed a bit more interested in practicing for the next concert. They were both some of Wally's closest friends he had, maybe he should join the journalist club like Linda had asked him to. He can be a food critic...unless the cafeteria staff got their hands on a copy then they'd probably start spitting in his food. Actually, they probably already do that. Time for bagged lunches.
Speaking of food.. Wally thought (well..thinking of food..nope that didn't make much sense either), the ginger stopped before he could pass an Auntie Anne's pretzel stand. A cinnamon pretzel was always a good choice. Making his order, Wally wandered over to the nearby set of tables, taking the closest empty table. Slouching back, Wally tucked his hands into the front pockets of his red sweatshirt. Ah, the mall was such a wonderful place. Why didn't they have a carousel? The speedster would be all over that. Wally didn't care how old he was, carousels were always going to be fun.
He would of been happy to bum around the house today, pretending to get some of his homework done, but then he'd have to endure his mom fawning over Kara aaaand eeeh, no. He was good. Supette wasn't all bad, he actually did enjoy having her around for the most part, but then again he was starting to regret those times when he was younger that he wanted a sibling. Kara was doing an excellent job at playing the role of...twin sister? But she was blonde..well she definitely wasn't younger or older, so twin would have to work. Sure it was fun teaching her Earth customs at the start (by Earth customs he means introducing her to the best snack foods) but then like all other aliens movies she began acting and thinking on her own.
In other words, she was stealing his food. Well, his mom said that it was the family's food, but everyone knew it was his. Last night she stole the second half of his grilled cheese, the nerve. Slumping further into his seat, Wally sighed, eyes roaming around the crowds of people, until he spotted a pair that caused him to jerk upright. Well, this was a twist he thought just as the server lady person announced that his pretzel was done. Thanking her, Wally took his pretzel with one hand, pulling his hood over his head with the other. He could have fun with this, spotting an empty stand of knock off pillow pets.
Almost running over, Wally squatted behind the booth on the opposite side of the familiar super duo. He ignored the odd looks a pair of women gave him, too busy grinning to care. "Kaaaaaaaraaaaa" he whispered, voice in a falsetto.

When it came down to it, Clark could understand just how difficult it must be for Kara. He recalled first hand how strange it was when he was growing up on Earth with his extraordinary gifts. It wasn't an easy task, but he did have a great deal of help from Ma and Pa Kent. They raised him to be a great man, a man the people could look up to and strive to be.
But Kara's case was so different from his own. Unlike Clark, she never had a Ma and Pa to raise her. She was also much older then he was when she arrived on Earth. All of this and the fact that she was still learning how to use her powers was something that Clark considered when he looked over at his cousin. She needed guidance, a role model to help her develop her abilities and live in peace with the people of Earth, like he did. This trip was a good idea, a bonding trip so to say. It was the start of something much greater he hoped.
A smile crossed his chiseled features when Kara told him about her life with the Wests. He was happy to hear that they were taking good care of her. And learning English and how to read and write? That was fantastic. "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself here in Central City."
When Kara asked about his job, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. "Everything is going great at the Planet. I just finished an article for Mr. White on a museum heist over an hour ago . As soon as I was done, I was able to fly over here." Clark said as he reflected on the events of today. There was gigantic robbery at the Metropolis museum earlier that day that he quickly foiled. At an incredible speed, Clark was able to write up a report of the event and submit to his boss as soon as he could. It was all in a days work for the Man of Steel.
As Clark was about to ask Kara what she wanted to do, his super hearing picked up something. It was the sound of feet moving at an incredibly speed. There were only few people in the world Clark knew that were capable of moving that fast, three of them happened to be in Central City. He listened closely to the sound. It was too small to be Barry, and too rapid to be Jay. Which meant it could only be Wally. This notion was confirmed by the whisper. Recognizing the uniqueness of the tone, Clark turned to the see the red headed speedster squatting behind a booth. Super hearing helped pinpoint his location and x-ray vision confirmed it. Clark couldn't help but to let a smirk cross his features as he spotted him.
"Hello Wally..." He said as they approached the speedster.
